Since I was a kid, I remember struggling with eczema and irritated skin from head to toe. As an adult, my skin never really felt good—it was always itchy, dry, flaky, and acne-prone. Like many teenagers, I picked at my acne, which only made things worse.

It took me six years of trial and error to find a skincare routine that truly worked for me—one that transformed not only my skin but also my confidence.

These are my personal tips and tricks for achieving healthy, glowing skin as an adult:

  1. Wash your hands before removing makeup – Your hands carry a lot of bacteria, and touching your face with unwashed hands can lead to breakouts and irritation.
  2. Use a gentle face wash – Being gentle with your skin makes a huge difference in how it looks and feels. Avoid harsh scrubbing or stripping cleansers.
  3. Exfoliate twice a week – No more than that! Choose a gentle chemical exfoliant to remove dead skin cells and reveal a smoother, brighter complexion.
  4. Keep your routine simple – You don’t need to layer multiple serums and creams. One serum or treatment and a good moisturizer are enough. Eye creams are often just overpriced face creams.
  5. Use an antibacterial or surgical cleanser once a week – If you struggle with acne, this can help reduce bacteria and inflammation. It can also be used twice a week on areas like underarms or the bottom for freshness and clarity.

Bottom line: The less you put on your skin, the better it will feel. Always choose gentle, hydrating ingredients and wash your hands before touching your face. Treat your body with the same care as your face—no exceptions.
