If you stay home with little kids, you already know this truth:
perfectly clean homes don’t exist during this season.
Between snacks, toys, laundry, and constant messes, trying to deep clean every day is exhausting and unrealistic.
What actually works is a simple weekly reset system that keeps your home functional without burning you out.
Instead of doing everything daily, I follow a light daily maintenance routine with a weekly reset rhythm.
My Realistic Cleaning Rhythm
Daily Maintenance (15–20 minutes total)
These small habits prevent the house from getting overwhelming.
• Never go to bed with a dirty kitchen
• Quick living room reset before bed
• One load of laundry a day
• 10-minute toy pickup with the kids
This keeps the house manageable without constant cleaning.
Weekly Reset
Once a week I focus on a few slightly bigger tasks:
• Vacuum and mop floors
• Bathroom wipe down
• Fresh sheets and towels
• Fridge clean out
• Dust high traffic areas
Nothing complicated. Just a predictable weekly rhythm.
The Secret: Stop Deep Cleaning All the Time
Instead of deep cleaning every month, I only deep clean certain things about three times a year, like:
• Washing machine
• Dishwasher
• Couch and carpets
Everything else stays clean through simple maintenance.
This routine keeps our home calm, even with kids running around all day.
It’s not perfect.
But it’s peaceful, realistic, and sustainable.
If you’re trying to simplify your home routines, I also keep all of my favorite simple cleaning tools and home basics linked in my storefront to make this system even easier.https://www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-7447ace1/curation/e5a59ee5-6f4a-4ac2-9a96-fd2da9a64e70?ref=ih_me_tab_sf&ccs_id=2d6b0b02-73a9-4f54-bed1-8f350c15ccf9&ref_=aip_sf_cur_spv_ofs_d
